Layah's leg story
This is old...but I pulled this off another of my blogs (dog related blog), in wanting to save it. *************************** My puppy (born 12/27/06), Layah, true hairless, broke her leg July 11, 2007 (so much for lucky 7/11) by jumping off the couch instead of using the doggy stairs! July 12th had surgery to put in a plate for one of the bones, the other was just too tiny to touch (broke her radius and ulna). July 15th noted a horrid stench and back to the vets... nasty infection; her flesh was gone, you could see the bone and plate (about the size of a US quarter)! Her flesh just died off. She was kept on same antibiotic. Still not healing. Switched to another antibiotic and going to vets every day for bandage changes. The first "hole" started to granulate over but then another hole started!! Vet took a sample of the infection from the new wound and did a sensitivity test. Two types of bacteria both common on the skin had gone wild...one type of Rx would wor...

Princess Layah 12/27/2006 - 07/01/2018 Cherry Berry 07/21/2009 - 07/01/2018 Believed to be a stroke Cherry Berry (left), her mama Layah Made the decision to let Layah go peacefully at BAVS. The sparkle left her eyes, she stopped eating, and refused to walk. She took naps on the spot where Cherry passed away on my bed. Layah was curled next to Cherry's head when Cherry died. Thank you to Dr S for giving me 5 extra months with Layah. She was a fighter. Same day as her daughter, hard to wrap my mind around that. Both gone same day. Snuggled in blankets Pepcid's cut in 1/2 Layah had a "spot" on her left hind leg for several years. Didn't look like much. Was told to leave it alone unless It grows. It grew and It grew fast!
