Thanksgiving...

I am truly thankful for the house that is my home. Despite all it's issues. It still holds in it's walls my family and all the love that is here. And my 4 legged critters and the extras that came for a visit! Love my family and so very thankful! Happy Thanksgiving!! ttfn

Another Holiday Tradition..

There is a holiday tradition with this house, every major holiday, either plumbing or electrical goes wrong. This Thanksgiving it's drum roll please..... PLUMBING Gloria, Sal's girlfriend who is staying with us for a couple of days...informed us the bathtub water will not shut off! A little history...The shower in the master bathroom drips (it did spray a bit) but that was fixed so now it drips for a day then eventually stops. I was told by our plumber that the way it was rigged he would have to cut the hole bigger to get to the pipes but that might in turn crack the plastic tub fixture. I'm thinking this might be the same...plus the hall bath fixture was not in seated plumb and the handle fell off ALL the time. The CLUNK sound became a normal sound here after awhile. I left a voice message with the plumber. Sigh...And we filled up some containers with water, the shut off the water at the main (which was an adventure in it self--raining hard in the dark with unkn

I saw it!

Willows grandma Layah... I saw it!!! Now I believe it!! I have been told so many times that Layah (she has only 3 good legs) can and has gotten onto the couch by herself! Yeah right... Even visitors here said she gets on the couch...Well today I was picking my jacket off the floor (it was right in front of the couch) and one of the bald dogs jump onto the couch..Thinking it was Cherry..I turned to look and WOW it was Layah!! lol So I covered her up with my jacket. She might not do it again for awhile. She has issues.   Layah..who gets stuck in the kitchen due to a lines on the floor. Or gets stuck outside due to the sliding glass door ledge.

Staying at the Red Lion

Smoke alarm going off in hallway of the Red Lion in Eureka Ca.   I stuck my head out and two others were doing the same thing..one said they are going to call the front desk. I also called the front desk, yes it was a smoke alarm Set off by a smoke machine in one of the banquet rooms. Must be the party with the fairy winged peeps and witches that came into the building while I was eating my dinner down stairs, well not really eating, more like picking at it..don't get me wrong, it was tastey but I didn't feel like eating, was more thirsty and tired.  Okay..back to watching cable tv. Don't get that at home! Then will read some and get some sleep..early day tomorrow.  ttfn

Eureka working

The highlight of my day in Eureka..Almost got hit by a car!! I was crossing Harris st in the crosswalk with a green walk light...A lady making a left hand turn onto Harris from F st. when I was 1/2 way across the street...I tried was looking right at her...she didn't look at me till I just jumped/ran out of her way! Missed by an inch! AND she was SMILING when our eyes met as I jumped/ran! I glared at her! Was too busy getting out of her way to yell or gesture. Anyway, that got the heart pumping.

Disco

Image
Disco at 8 years My Disco Berner is not eating her kibble. She has always been a chow hound. We have tried different foods, adding canned (which sometimes work). Today I picked up some Liver Brownies from Happy Tails Barkery. They are fresh frozen and made at the Barkery (by Lynette). Tonight at feeding time I took one out, nuked it for a few seconds and Disco was there and ready to eat. I crumbled/chopped it up and mixed in her kibble and added a dash of warm water. She ate it up, now to see how long this lasts. This eating thing reminds me too much of what her mother Selene did when she got sick. Disco is 8 years and 5 months old.  ttfn

One of those days? Note it's plural.

Starting out with Tuesday evening moving into Wednesday afternoon. Since the BlackBerry outage a little while ago. RIM decided to give a few apps away. So I looked at the choices and saw the Driving Safely one. Sure why not, not knowing what it was really about (thinking maybe it was for road conditions or something like that), I know...I should have read the info first, but hey, I don't have good coverage here in the JV and it was good right then so I took advantage of the down load. I fell asleep. Next morning, getting ready to leave for work..feeding dogs, making sure all water bowls were filled etc. Then I heard this strange noise coming from the living room!! Even the dogs (the ones that heard it) went to investigate. We looked around and no one was at the door, the tv was off, hulu wasn't running on the laptop. Shrugs, we all went back into the kitchen to finish the feeding process. I said to kids (the dogs for those who don't know me), I wonder if that was Rachel

Thoughts on Think Pink...

Thoughts on Think Pink and Breast Cancer Awareness Month... Yesterday while I had my hair cut and styled. Flat ironed..(I really like it!) Now to see if I can keep it up! (post photo later). The Chop Chix Salon ladies really go all out, no holding back on fund raising... I bought 3 raffle tickets at Chop Chix Salon. I sure hope to win on of those awesome baskets or the flat iron or the Kenra products! btw i love Kenra hair spray! Smells soo good! i am going to try to stop by the shop on my way to work to join in on the excitement of the cause..Think Pink. Been thinking of the Think Pink movement..Wouldn't it be nice to have Think Pink products for those who are going/have been, though breast cancer surgery/radiation/chemo. Special items such as cotton hats, head scarves, bras, water bottles, pill cases, blankets (for those chemo sessions), water bottles...don't have to be pink but maybe with the ribbon logo on them somehow.  A tote bag would be nice, cotton sleep shirts,

Got a new hair style!

Facebook and blogging...

Trying to figure out how to connect this to twitter and Facebook...so I won't have to  Ctrl + c and Ctrl + v all the time...Cause sometimes I copy too much or don't copy enough! PS..found out that the only way to post on FB at the same time is to "share" it. Oh well, I was trying for an easier way. tgn

Bees Bad..

I'm Back! First off..I don't like bees or hornets and the other sting/bite capable insects. I do like them for their purpose but not when they are stalking me!!! I was trying to open up the rest of the back yard for the dogs this morning by taking down ex-pens. I got one folded up but left it laying on the ground...too many bees buzzing around me! Note to self...either wear bee keepers gear or wait till sun goes down to move the ex-pens. At least the dogs can now get into the rest of yard. ttfn

I had an epiphany while spraying the Filaree...

Now I know what I want to do with patch of weeds in the front and back yard...going to go the route of hard scape with rock mulch and large rocks with drought tolerant plants/bushes trees (except for the orange tree I hope to buy some month. Tired of weeds and grass. My next step is still my first step...die Filaree die! Then rent or borrow something to till the ground...spray it again. Re-do the wire fencing that keeps the dogs from the wood fence (taller and stronger) Measure and get prices for that. Measure the yards  (going to need lots and lots!!) Price the rock I want to get Save up $ Research plants/bushes/trees good for my area for sure: Orange and lemon trees...for front and back yards (have to have fruitful trees) dwarf sized. More rose bushes for around the patio in the back and 3 more for the front yard. Price some boulders. Price those retaining wall brick things for around the trees etc. Price some benches. Save up more $ Pavers for bottom of c

New Dog Food for the Kids

okay..took them off their kibble and put them on boiled rice and chicken. The pink vomiting or "spitting", had stopped. I took back the two bags of dog food I recently bought and not used/opened and exchanged it for another brand. Going with Blue Buffalo. So far so good..but too dark outside to see all the "end" results but one had an accident and it was actually formed and dark and didn't have a gaseous smell like they had with the other food. Will update on the dog food later! ttfn

Dog update

All the dogs are now on boiled chicken and rice for the next few days. So far no more frothy pink fluids. Going to be changing their food. ttfn

Willow has the "Bug" don't read if you are eating...

I don't know what is going through the dogs..Started with Cherry Berry...throwing up brown to pinkish/clear liquid. No coughing and she seemed to not be feeling to well for about a day. Cherry is fine now. Then Simba, followed by BB (Willows brother) but they didn't act sick like Cherry. Layah got it next. Hit Willow early this morning, puking over the side of my bed. I really love my two Bissell machines. One for the spots and the other for the whole carpet. They all eat fine. The vomit has no food in it..thick pinkish/clear. Cherry was hit the hardest with the vomiting. From dark brown to the pink color. update: As I type this; Willow is wrestling with BB! Updated again: The dogs had boiled chicken and rice for dinner tonight and will have it for breakfast in the morning. Going to switch their dog food. Not sure if it's their pancreas or an respiratory disease. But the dogs are not coughing and when I listened to their lungs they sounded fine.  ttfn One of these days I wi

Willow's First Snow!

Image
Happy 4 months old Willow, Ember and BB! Pondering what to do with the white cold stuff. Lets see what it tastes like.. . nom nom nom nom...Say's Ember The rest of the photos will be of what Willow watched from the patio! Simba & Cherry Greeting the neighbor dog!   Aunti Mei Mei being chased by Disco Mama Cherry's turn to be chased! Now for the after affects... Ahh the warm stove. Willow is getting sleepy, not BB! Cherry's turn. Getting sleepy.... Good night. All the dogs had fun and enjoyed the snow either looking at it, eating it or playing in it. Well almost all...Layah was no where to be found outside..she was curled up in the doggy bed inside snoozing. ttfn

What I saw!

Rose Bush with new growth from the 70+ weather we had! When I left for work this morning at 5:30 am it was rain...when I got home later in the afternoon.... Froggy! Here are some pictures taken Feb. 17, 2011 View from my front porch when I got home from work.

Clapping

I have been spending as much time as I can, outside with the dogs these past couple of weeks. Enjoying the spring like weather, which according to weather reports will not last for much longer. The bald dogs love the sun and Willow is no exception. Today after our play time, I called the dogs in (really don't have to call most of them...they are my shadows). They all came inside except Willow. She was busy playing in a sunny spot near the shed. Lots of bugs, twigs, leaves to taste. As I walked towards her (her back was to me) I sharply clapped two times. She jerked her head around and looked right at me, wagged her tail and looked into my eyes. I gave her name sign and she came running to me! Then she followed me into the house happily. She can 'hear' some sounds/vibrations maybe? or was is a coincidence which she suddenly realized she was alone and jerked her head to look for someone or did she hear my clap? I am leaning towards hearing the clapping. Now to figure out whic
